Legend Design releases multiprocessing simulation manager

SAN FRANCISCO — Legend Design Technology Inc. Tuesday
(Sept. 20) released the CharFlo-MonteCarlo! simulation manager for
multiprocessing statistical circuit simulation. Bundled with the
company's MSIM application program interface (API), the product enables
designers to examine the impacts of statistical Spice models and
enhance designs for yield, according to Legend Design.
Legend Design (Santa Clara, Calif.) said CharFlo-MonteCarlo! Manages concurrent circuit simulations, statistical input controls, result analysis and time-sharing computer resources. The company said the bundled CharFlo-MonteCarlo! And MSIM API will support statistical Spice models from major foundries, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC).
According to Legend Design, simulation results based on conventional corner Spice models are overly pessimistic for leading-edge designs. Designers need to adopt statistical Spice models for obtaining simulation results that can reflect actual silicon, Legend Design said, adding that statistical simulation can also accurately predict circuit behavior for analog and mixed-signal designs.
CharFlo-MonteCarlo! bundled with the MSIM API circuit simulator is available now, starting at $20,000 for a perpetual license.
